The strategically important Estimating Manager role comes with a salary up to 65,000, with a 500 per month car allowance, 30 days annual leave, paid travel and more.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Commercial Director you will:
- Lead and mentor a team of civil engineering estimators, offering guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with the Electrical Estimator Head and team to ensure comprehensive project estimates.
- Allocate resources effectively to guarantee accurate and timely completion of estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects, covering labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and documentation to develop thorough estimates.
- Utilise specialised software and tools to enhance estimation accuracy and efficiency.
- Analyse project requirements and constraints to identify cost-saving opportunities and assess potential risks.
- Conduct site visits to gather relevant data and evaluate project conditions.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure precise and informed estimates.
- Coordinate with procurement and subcontracting teams to obtain quotes and negotiate pricing.
- Prepare and present detailed estimation reports and summaries for senior management and clients.
- Maintain thorough records of estimates, including assumptions, methodologies, and supporting data.
- Continuously review and improve estimation processes and methodologies for greater accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay informed about industry trends, cost fluctuations, and new technologies that affect cost estimation.
- Contribute to the development of project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor actual project costs versus estimates and recommend corrective measures when necessary.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Around 5 years experience in Estimating on large construction projects - housing, industrial or renewable preferably within renewable energy or large scale construction projects.
- Ideally, some Estimating Management or construction management experience.
- Excellent knowledge within construction standards, materials and processes.
- In depth construction industry knowledge and costs of materials, labour etc.
- A higher education or degree qualification in construction, civil engineering, business or commercial management or a similar field of study.
- Previous construction, civil or structural engineering experience would be advantageous.
- Additional qualifications in construction operations, CSCS, UKPIA, health and safety etc. would be advantageous.
- A full UK driving licence is essential due to remote nature of the sites.

The Estimating Manager role would suit someone who is or has:
- Proficient in the use of cost estimating tools and other software such as Microsoft Office programs.
- A strong attention to detail and a commercial awareness.
- A strong respect to health and safety and safe working practices
- Excellent planning, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexible to travel.
